Our Mission.
Melissa Joy Manning is committed to ethics-driven design and creating a connection between our community and the natural world.
Our Ethos
Our MJM Gold Standard for ethically made jewelry mirrors our reverence for the natural world, and we're leading the charge towards ethics-driven design in our industry.
Our Founder
Melissa Joy Manning is a formally educated jewelry designer and Founder of the CFDA Sustainability Council. Manning is recognized for her iconic designs that include handmade chains, the now prevalent “Hug” hoop earring, as well as conceptualizing the raw stone trend. Manning’s influence in the fashion and design industry has launched a collective movement towards a transparent and eco-friendly design process.
Our Gold Standard
We Create Heirloom-Quality Jewelry That Endures.
Our Jewelry, made to last, is created to be passed down through the generations. By designing and crafting our pieces to endure, we avoid the harmful culture of disposable fashion.
We Make Our Pieces By Hand, Not Machine.
No mass production, no machine-driven factory lines. By producing by hand in our NY and certified production partner’s studio, we provide job opportunities for trained artisans.
We Protect Our Planet.
Our NY production, packaging, and shipping follow the Zero-Waste philosophy. We reduce, reuse, and recycle wherever possible.
We Give Back to Our Communities.
In 2022, we donated $29,370 to charities that we're passionate about. We focus on the following areas of giving:
- Hunger in our communities
- Environment
- Children
- Social Justice
Our Giveback.
It is our belief that the success we have should be shared, so we support a number of important causes on the local, nationwide, and international levels. Make sure to follow us on social media to find more ways you can contribute to our many non-profit partners.
Our Partners

We are proud to partner with the ACLU, RAICES, Surfrider Foundation, the NAACP Legal Defense Fund, and Clean Water Fund (just to name a few!). We have long supported the New York and Alameda Food Banks, and Feeding America, as well as regularly participating in team volunteer days to reach out to the least fortunate in our communities.
In 2022 we continued our giving efforts to respond to the growing need for community support.
• Donated $29,370 to charitable organizations.
•Supported over 30 organizations.
• Donated to the Housing Works Fashion for Action Event.
• Offset 82,067 lbs of CO2 through Climate Credits
And in 2023 we're pushing even further with more initiatives and partnerships to benefit our communities. Stay tuned for more!
